History of The Palace: In 1929, Morris Schulman purchased what used to be the town's city hall and opera house and converted it into The Palace Theater bringing live and motion pictures to Main Street in downtown Bryan. The Palace Theater truly brought entertainment and cinema magic to Bryan, TX as it operated successfully for over fifty years. Throughout the course of its business, The Palace hosted grand movie premieres, celebrity guest appearances and was a hot spot for all. After a tragic storm brought destruction to The Palace causing permanent structural damage to the building, the theater and property were donated to the City of Bryan in 1987. In the early 1990s, a collective effort was made to revitalize the Palace Theater, turning it into an open-air entertainment venue. In 2023, the Schulman family reopens The Palace with new enhancements to serve the Bryan community with more live entertainment, motion pictures and as a private rental venue.
